Robert M. Hiltz

North Woodstock;

Robert Hiltz passed peacefully at LaFayette Center in Franconia on April 14, 2009.
Born to Guy and Mabel Hiltz November 24, 1919 in Lincoln, N.H., Bud was a life-long
resident of the Lincoln-Woodstock community. He began working in the construction business with brothers Willard and Herb and continued working in the field most of his life. He was still working daily on his “dozer” until he was 87.
Bud served in WWII and was honorably discharged as Army Master Sergeant. He spent time in France, Belgium and Germany and had many stories he shared with his family of experiences during the European Campaign. He kept a keen interest in that era for life.
Bud was known for his civic generosity and was an active member of Bektash Shriners
and Masonic Fraternity for years and was an involved member of the Pemi Valley Church in Woodstock, serving as deacon and was on the board of trustees.
He played an important role in the lives of his children and will be remembered for his humor, gracious manner and generosity. He took time with each of them infusing them with his curiosity about the world around him and was a teacher to the end. Grandchildren were treasures and he doted on them effusively no matter what their age. Grandpa Bud will be sorely missed by his nine grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
He leaves his loving wife of 69 years, Alice, daughters Bobbie Lowden and Kathy (Laurent) Landry, and son, Robert Hiltz Jr. Daughters Susan and Judith (Benton) preceded him in death.
Sister, Edith Boyd, of North Woodstock, survives her brother. He leaves behind several nieces and nephews in the New England area.
