Mr. Peter Griffin Wonson, 63, of Snow King Road, North Woodstock, NH, passed away after a long battle with cancer in the loving arms of his family on Saturday, March 7th, 2009 at his residence.

Peter was born in Gloucester, MA on August 15, 1945 to the late C. Fletcher and M. Evelyn (Griffin) Wonson. As a boy he enjoyed fishing and lobstering, and spent much of his time on the ocean. In high school, he played trombone and was a member of the marching band. He graduated with the Gloucester High School class of 63. He married his high-school sweetheart Nancy (Bray) Wonson in 1967. In 1968, he earned a Bachelor of Science from the Massachusetts college of Pharmacy.

After college, Peter began his life-long career as a pharmacist with Tuck’s Pharmacy in Rockport, MA. He established Sandy Bay Apothecary at the Whistlestop Mall Rockport, MA. He owned and operated this business for over 25 years. Peter maintained a small loberstering boat in Lanes Cove and began skiing and gardening. Peter purchased a vacation home in Lost Valley, North Woodstock NH in the early 80s. Peter and his family developed close ties with the Woodstock-Lincoln area community. In the late 90s, Peter sold Sandy Bay Apothecary and his MA residence to become a permanent resident of North Woodstock, NH. He continued his career as a pharmacist at Rite-Aid in Lincoln, NH. In 2003 his granddaughter, Denica (Swanson) Keeney, came to live with him and attend Linwood High School.

He was predeceased by a sister Judy (Wonson) Pellitier. Peter leaves behind his wife of 41 years Nancy (Bray) Wonson of North Woodstock, daughter Pamela Wonson of Mountain View, CA, son Kirk Wonson of Gloucester, MA, granddaughter Denica Keeney of Woodstock, NH, great grandson Griffin Keeney and great granddaughter Barbara Elizabeth “BE” Keeney both of Woodstock, NH, brother John F. Wonson of Rockport, MA and two sisters, Faye (Wonson) Anderson of Rockport, MA and Beth Wonson of Shell Beach, CA, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling Hours are on Tuesday March 10, 2009 from 1 to 5 PM at the Edmund Fournier Funeral Home 144 Main St., North Woodstock, NH.

Graveside Service at Woodstock Cemetery, Rt. 3 Woodstock at a time to be announced in the spring.
