Mr. Ira A. Fraser, 80, of Blake Mountain Rd. Thornton, died Saturday, January 17th, 2009 at his home.
Mr. Fraser was born in Melrose, Massachusetts on August 1, 1928, the son of the late Arthur and Mary (Campbell) Fraser. He was a graduate of Medford High School. Mr. Fraser lived in Arlington, MA before moving to Thornton in 1969.
He was a Carpenter, however he was skilled in many different trades including painting and masonry. He owned and operated Flue Shine Sweep a chimney sweeping business in the area for 8 years.
Mr. Fraser was a Korean War Veteran having served in the US Army in the 515th Ordnance Co.
He was a member of the Lincoln-Woodstock Assembly of God Church. He enjoyed carpentry, gardening and spending time with his family.
Family members include his wife of 55 years Mary (Randall) Fraser, a daughter; Mary I. Murray of Fountain Hills AR, two sons; William Fraser and Robert Fraser both of Thornton, a sister; Margaret Gardner of Reading, MA. five brothers; Stanley Fraser of Burlington, MA, Arthur Fraser of Stoneham, MA., William Fraser of Florida., Austin Fraser of Melrose, MA and Andrew Fraser of Medford, MA, six grandchildren two great grandchildren, Many nieces, nephews and cousins
A Memorial Service will be on Saturday, January 24th, at 1:00 PM at the Plymouth Assembly of God Church, Highland St. Plymouth with Rev. David Walker officiating.
Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery Thornton at a time to be announced in the spring.
